First day of interviews! How do I feel? A bit of mixed emotions.
I had two interviews lined up for today. I try to keep it to no more than three per day since I’m juggling this alongside my 9-to-5 job while working from home—it’s all a bit of undercover work, really.

The first interview was my test run. I’m used to conducting job interviews from past hiring experiences, but this time, I had to (almost) fabricate everything without letting it show. Naturally, I started off nervous, but things flowed more smoothly as the conversation went on. This is why I wanted to begin with the lower-ranked models—to get some practice in.
How did it go? Better than expected, although she’s not someone I’ll be hiring. She was the lowest-ranked on my list, yet she surprised me in several ways. It reminded me of something important: interviews are crucial for uncovering the person behind the image. It’s not exactly a revelation, but it’s easy to overlook. After our talk, she’s actually more of a contender than before the interview, which was a pleasant surprise.
The second interview? A bit of a flop. At the last minute, the model realized she couldn’t use her phone for the Zoom call. I had sent her an automated email the day before, asking her to test everything, and I even messaged her on Instagram 30 minutes prior to confirm she was ready. But right when the interview was supposed to start, she canceled due to this technical glitch (which, honestly, was more about poor planning on her part).
On a different note, the top-ranked model on my list wanted to meet tomorrow, but I feel it’s still a little early. I need to get a few more interviews under my belt first, so I can fine-tune the process and responses. I kindly reached out to her on IG, asking to reschedule for Friday, and she agreed. She even said, “I’m still getting the interview, right? I don’t want to miss this opportunity.” So, everything is still on track.
One down, seven to go.
No interviews scheduled for tomorrow, so I’ll continue on Thursday with three! I’ll be back on Friday with updates on how everything went.
